The Customer: NHS Fife – Fife Orthopaedics National Treatment Centre
The Challenge: The brand-new bricks and mortar National Treatment Centre – Fife Orthopaedics brings together multidisciplinary musculoskeletal expertise from across Fife, delivering world class services from the state-of-the-art facility at the Victoria Hospital in Fife.
The centre includes a multi-purpose teaching area, which can be configured as a single large lecture space or split into two individual seminar rooms. The client required an audiovisual solution which would provide Presentation and Teams Videoconferencing facilities in each seminar room, whilst having the flexibility to combine the systems in both rooms as required.
In addition, the client required the ability to be able to view “live” camera and audio feeds from the Operating Theatre for training purposes.
The Solution: Each Seminar room is equipped with a high-quality Samsung 75” 4K LED Display, with Barco Clickshare CX50 for BYOD wireless presentation and Teams collaboration. In room audio is supplied via Dante Ceiling Speakers, with Shure MXA ceiling Mic Arrays providing superior quality audio pickup. QSC networked cameras are mounted at each screen for audience participation during Teams calls.
Each room has its own wall mounted QSC touch panel for in room audio-visual controls.
The flexibility of this fully network solution enables the user to easily reconfigure the room to be a large meeting space, using a single button press on either of the QSC touch-panels. When the large meeting space is selected, all ceiling speakers and microphones are enabled, content can be pushed to either of the large displays. The user can easily select either Barco Clickshare to be displayed, or the video and audio feed from the Operating Theatre.
The Result: The Seminar rooms are used daily to deliver training, view live feeds from the operating theatre and for teams’ videoconference calls. The technology has been very successfully adopted by the users. Having the ability to easily reconfigure the room set-up optimises the use of the space in a way which would not be possible with traditional audio-visual solutions. Ease of use, flexibility and scalability are key elements of this solution, which has the capacity for additional inputs and outputs to be added in the future.
