The Customer: Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel, Glasgow, Scotland
The Challenge: The Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel is a modern conference venue with a range of outstanding dedicated facilities located a short distance from Glasgow City Centre. The venue is particularly suitable for Healthcare and Pharma exhibitions. The Auditorium within the venue has tiered seating for up to 170 participants. Prior to the upgrade the Auditorium had a projector which projected images onto a plane white wall. The image wasn’t very clear and the colour reproduction was poor as the projector was an older model and the wall had no projector screen with any sort of reflective surface. Participants didn’t get a clear viewing experience of what was being displayed on the screen. As the facility is mainly used by Healthcare professionals this wasn’t an ideal scenario for displaying any medical images or videos. The projector image also only filled part of the wall meaning there was scope to increase the image size. The existing AV and control equipment was over 10 years old with a lot of the original booth controls no longer working leaving the system somewhat unreliable. The room also had no ability to conduct hybrid or stream live conferences without the setup of external equipment.
The Solution: Nuvideo worked closely with the Audio Visual team at the Hotel to design a functional solution that meets and enhances the presenter and participant experience. The new solution gives the audio-visual team a wider range of controls so that they can fully manage conferences from the in-room control booth. A new 3.8m x 2m LED wall has been installed to provide a high-definition viewing experience even whilst all the lights are on. Images and videos can now be viewed with clarity and enhanced colour reproduction. The fully upgraded audio system provides clear and even audio distribution from hand-held and lectern microphones. The introduction of a PTZ camera and hybrid capable QSC AV processor allows conferences to be live-streamed or fully collaborative with the ability to conduct conferences on any cloud platform such as MS Teams, Webex or Zoom.
The Installed System: A 1.9mm Samsung LED videowall with Samsung video processor. QSC Q-SYS platform to provide integrated control and audio processing. QSC control touch panels in the booth and on the presenter’s lectern. Hand-held, lectern and conference microphones. QSC speakers and a QSC PTZ camera to provide a sharp image of the presenter.
The Result: The full upgrade of the audio-visual systems within the Auditorium has provided many benefits to both users and system administrators. The simple-to-use control panels on the presenter lectern and in the booth provide a professional but simple-to-use experience. The new LED wall greatly enhances the participants experience. It is a fantastic environment for presenters and both in-person and remote attendees.
