Challenge:
Vets Now is a global leader in emergency veterinary care and training. With a commitment to delivering the highest standards in both clinical practice and professional education, Vets Now continues to invest in modern, purpose-built training environments to support the next generation of veterinary professionals.
Project Brief
As part of the development of their state-of-the-art training facilities in Birmingham and Dunfermline, Vets Now required a complete audiovisual solution for two distinct environments: a fully equipped Wet Lab and a large seminar room.
The AV solution needed to enhance in-person teaching while also enabling seamless remote participation via Microsoft Teams, reflecting the organisation’s hybrid training model.
Customer Requirements
Wet Lab
The Wet Lab required a professional AV setup to:
- Capture and display a live, overhead camera feed from above the examination table.
- Stream content to two large screens in the room and remote Teams participants.
- Offer wired and wireless content sharing from the lecturer’s laptop.
- Ensure hands-free audio pickup using a wireless microphone.
- Deliver clear in-room sound via wall-mounted speakers.
- Be easily operated via a simple, intuitive user interface.
Seminar Room
The seminar room would be used for larger teaching sessions and needed:
- A large format display.
- Teams-compatible video conferencing for remote learning.
- High-quality audio and video for both in-room and online participants.
- Options for wired and wireless content sharing.
Solution:
Wet Lab
NuVideo designed a QSC Q-SYS-based solution to meet the lab’s complex audiovisual needs. At the heart of the system is a Q-SYS Core processor, enabling unified control and seamless integration.
Key components include:
- A ceiling-mounted Q-SYS PTZ camera to capture detailed, overhead video of the lecturer’s demonstrations.
- Two 75” Samsung 4K LED displays, giving all attendees a clear view of the live procedures.
- An additional Q-SYS NC-110 fixed-frame camera for wide-angle shots of the full lab.
- A Sennheiser ME-3 head-worn microphone, providing reliable, hands-free audio for the lecturer.
- A Q-SYS NL-SB42 soundbar, delivering high-quality in-room sound in a discreet form factor.
- Microsoft Teams Room integration via a Q-SYS UC Compute Bundle, including a touch interface for camera selection, volume control, mic mute, and content sharing.
- Dual content sharing options: local HDMI or wireless via Barco ClickShare.
The result is a streamlined, user-friendly AV system that empowers instructors to teach naturally while ensuring an engaging experience for both in-person and remote students.
Seminar Room
For the seminar room, NuVideo delivered a modern Microsoft Teams Room setup, including:
- A 65” Samsung 4K LED display for large-format content presentation.
- A Poly Studio X72 all-in-one video bar, providing exceptional video and audio clarity.
- A Poly TC10 touch panel, offering familiar and intuitive Microsoft Teams control.
- HDMI and wireless sharing via Barco ClickShare, allowing flexibility for guest devices and presenters.
Outcome:
The completed AV installations in both the Wet Lab and Seminar Room provide a robust, hybrid-ready training environment that matches the high standards of Vets Now’s veterinary education programs.
The system is easy to use, future-proof, and aligned with the needs of modern, blended learning. Lecturers can now focus on teaching, not troubleshooting technology, while students—whether in the room or remote—benefit from crystal-clear video, professional audio, and seamless content delivery.
