The Customer: Public Sector Organisation in Edinburgh, Scotland
The Challenge: With the move over the past couple of years to flexible working our client wanted to design a flexible working space of the future where employees could feel part of a meeting or presentation no matter where they are located. Whether joining from another office or working from home participants should feel as part of the meeting as in-room attendees. The new space had to be flexible for presentations, team meetings and team brainstorming sessions. The client installed modern furniture where seating would be flexible and the technology suited how people wanted to work within the space.
The Solution: We worked closely with the client to design a solution that is as simple as possible to use but also very flexible. There is a touch panel wall mounted next to a large 98” display. The touch panel has been designed in such a way most of the equipment set-up has been automated and it only takes the selection of 2 buttons to start a presentation/hybrid meeting. The solution works with familiar organisational equipment namely the Barco Clickshare. The Clickshare solution allows users to not only wirelessly present but to conduct video calls from their laptop but using the in-room speaker tracking cameras. A ceiling-mounted beam-forming microphone array was installed to provide full-room audio pickup. This users the ability to walk around the room freely and always be picked up clearly.
The Installed System: A Samsung 98” large format display provides a sharp 4K image quality. A Barco Clickshare at the core provides users with the ability to wirelessly present from their laptops and also conduct video calls from any cloud platform such as Microsoft Teams, Webex or Zoom. A Sennheiser Team Connect 2 beaming forming microphone array provides full-room audio pickup. A QSC Q-SYS Core Nano processor provides audio, video and control processing.
The Result: The organisation now has a fully flexible hybrid presentation space that can be utilised in person and remote collaborative working. Users find the equipment in the room easy to use and are extremely happy with the quality of the call when dialling in from home or another office. They hope to use this space as a benchmark for future flexible working environments.
